Yes, Big EGO is great training ground if you want to become a pro. There are trained actors in Big EGO who have worked professionally in the industry, and EGO is an established theatre company with an illustrious track record of original work. It’s the perfect training ground, giving you real experience of scripts, tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, backstage discipline and taking direction. Our staff have a breadth of experience in the stage & screen industries and can give you help and advice.
No. You can be a complete beginner, or even unsure if acting is for you. Big EGO is for everyone. We will work with your ambition and ability level, however big or small. All we ask is a real commitment to showing up – we do a lot of rehearsals in the weeks leading up to show time, so we need actors who are willing to put in the hours.
Each workshop is run by EGO’s Co-Artistic Directors, Georgina and Corinne. They have run EGO for 20 years, writing and directing shows for countless acting ensembles, including work that has toured the country professionally.
You can access Big EGO with an EGO membership, which costs £40 a month. We never charge our actors extra for costumes or additional rehearsals – it’s all covered by your monthly fee. For more information, visit egoarts.co.uk/membership

Yes. With Big EGO, you are always working towards your next production. Through improvisations in groups, you will devise ideas for the next production. Then, the directors will take all your ideas and turn them into a script. You will rehearse this script over a few months, then perform it in front of an audience with professional sound, lights and costume!
Not exactly – some of our shows have original songs and a small amount of dance, but it’s rare that we’ll do an all-out musical.
No. However, you will get real experience of devising shows, performing in front of an audience, make new friends, and build invaluable skills in confidence and communication. You’ll also be in the running for EGO’s annual awards ceremony…

Yes. Everyone’s needs are different and we will adapt our workshops to cater to your needs.
Big EGO shows are dark, challenging and funny. They often take place in non-traditional venues, like historical sites. They draw big audiences and the production standards are always very high.
