Home Affairs

Wed 6, Thu 7 & Fri 8 November, 7.30pm.EGO Arts Venue, The Old Grammar School, Hales St, Coventry, CV1 1JD.45 mins (approx).Recommended for ages 12+. “Politicians are like the parents of the nation. They’re hypocrites with a capital H.” As if Charlie’s politics exams aren’t gruelling enough. Life at home is a political nightmare… Trying to find her way in the world while caught between the childish rivalries of her divorced parents, Charlie is desperate to take control. When she decides to watch Prime Minister’s Questions to help her with her exams, the twaddle exchanged in parliament suddenly feels very close to home. “Home Affairs” is a stark look at the parallels between a broken home and a broken political system, and how coming of age can give you the courage to stand up to power. An original play brought to you by EGO Boost, our community cast aged 12 to 25. Pay What You Can: You choose to pay £5, £10 or £20 for your ticket. If you are on a low income choose the lower amount, but if you can afford it, we would appreciate you paying the higher amount. This helps EGO to keep our monthly subscription fees at a minimum. Produced by EGO Arts. Funded by Arts Council England and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. Poster artwork by Emma Ranić. EGO has moved... ...but not far. We're now in a building called The Old Grammar School, a 2-minute walk from where we were before.  The Old Grammar School - which will now also be known as EGO Arts Venue - is a big building that looks like a church with a modern extension, on the corner of Hales St, Bishop St and Silver St. You can see it from the bottom of the Burges. Click below for more information. How to find us GOOD TO KNOW Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. The runtime is approximately 45 minutes. The bar will be open for drinks and snacks. BY BUS EGO is easily accessible by bus. If you arrive at Pool Meadow Bus Station, walk to the left-hand side of the Transport Museum - EGO is on the row of shops by Baxter Baristas coffee shop. If you arrive at the Burges, walk to the junction at the bottom and you should see EGO - it looks like a church on the corner, opposite the Phillip Larkin pub. PARKING Bishop Street car park is a one-minute walk from the venue. Blue badge parking is free. ACCESS INFORMATION British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation and Audio Description are available on request. Please let us know if you require either as soon as you book your ticket. Email hello@egoarts.co.uk or give us a call or WhatsApp message on 07476208935. The venue is wheelchair accessible. The show will take place on the ground floor.
