Super EGO is a theatre ensemble for all ages, creating and performing shows set in circuses, beaches and fairytale lands. They meet for drama workshops on Saturday mornings, 10.30am-12.30pm all year round. Always fresh, fun, and fabulous, this ensemble devise incredibly imaginative, boisterous and giddy productions.

Members of Super EGO are endlessly imaginative, creating their own characters and worlds, and feeding their ideas into the plays they perform. 

Even if your child is a complete beginner, this friendly and supportive group will help them find their confidence and improvisation skills in the distinctive EGO way. This is a friendly, safe space for people to learn how to make theatre, where everyone gets a chance to shine.

Where does Super EGO take place?

Super EGO meets every Saturday morning, 10.30am-12.30pm, all year round.

Yes. Plenty of Super EGO members have gone on to be professional actors over the years. It’s the perfect springboard, giving you real experience of scripts, tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, backstage discipline and taking direction. Our staff have a breadth of experience in the stage & screen industries and will give you help and advice. If you’re serious about acting, as time goes on they will give you roles that challenge you in the right way.

No. You can be a complete beginner, or even unsure if acting is for you. Super EGO is for everyone. We will work with your ambition and ability level, however big or small.

Each workshop is run by professional actors, writers and directors with years of experience facilitating workshops for people of all abilities. They are friendly, fun and absolutely love warm-up games.

You can access Super EGO with an EGO membership, which costs £40 a month. We never charge our actors extra for costumes or additional rehearsals – it’s all covered by your monthly fee. For more information, visit egoarts.co.uk/membership

Yes. With Super EGO, you are always working towards your next production. Through improvisations in groups, you will devise ideas for the next production. Then, the directors will take all your ideas and turn them into a script. You will rehearse this script over a few months, then perform it in front of an audience with professional sound, lights and costume!

Not exactly – some of our shows have original songs and a small amount of dance, but it’s rare that we’ll do an all-out musical.

No. However, you will get real experience of devising shows, performing in front of an audience, make new friends, and build invaluable skills in confidence and communication. You’ll also be in the running for EGO’s annual awards ceremony…

Yes. Everyone’s needs are different and we will adapt our workshops to cater to your needs.

Super EGO has been going since the day EGO was founded, at Coventry Transport Museum in January 2006. It’s EGO’s first-ever ensemble, and still going strong.
