Discover theatre for the first time, make new friends and turbo charge your development. Little EGO is a friendly, accessible drama group for children aged 4 to 8 in Coventry, teaching the skills and confidence to help your little ones grow as performers and as people too.

Why choose EGO?

We are a community first and foremost, where everyone gets a say. Based in Coventry City Centre for 20 years and guided by experienced professionals, our groups and ensembles create theatre from scratch and take part in every stage of the devising process, meaning the finished product on stage comes from the imaginations of our cast members – everyone is listened to and everyone is included.

Expert teaching

Our fantastic teachers and workshop facilitators have a wealth of experience on and off the stage, and between them have performed, written and directed countless theatre productions. We work with community actors of all ages and abilities and our small, tight-knit group sizes allow us to tailor our teaching to your child’s ability level and ambition.

Incredible shows and opportunities

We’re always developing new and exciting shows, walkabouts and experiences – that includes the incredible shows that our Little EGO group produces every year. Little EGO members will also be invited to take part in larger-scale projects alongside EGO’s wider community of actors, production artists and musicians. The sky’s the limit with huge and varied things on the horizon – on stage, outdoors, and around Coventry, including festivals.

A lifelong journey

Little EGO has been around since 2012 and although it took a little break, many previous members have progressed with EGO and are still with us today in their teens! EGO is a community that will be there for you from the start and will fuel your ambitions whatever path you choose.

Yes. With Little EGO, you are always working towards your next production. Through improvisations in groups, you will devise ideas for the next production. Then, the directors will take all your ideas and turn them into a script. You will rehearse this script over a few months, then perform it in front of an audience with professional sound, lights and costume!

Not exactly – some of our shows have original songs and a small amount of dance, but it’s rare that we’ll do an all-out musical.

No. However, they will get real experience of devising shows, performing in front of an audience, make new friends, and build invaluable skills in confidence and communication. They will be part of a lifelong network of EGO actors. They’ll also be in the running for EGO’s annual awards ceremony.

Little EGO began in 2012 at EGO’s old venue behind Coventry Transport Museum. It ran until 2018 when our members moved up to our Super EGO ensemble. Several founding members who were 4 years old when they joined Little EGO are still with EGO today. Now, we’re ready to relaunch the group for a new generation.
