EGO's New Venue

How to find us

Where is the new building?

The Old Grammar School is a big building that looks like a church with a modern extension, on the corner of Hales St, Bishop St and Silver St. You can see it from the bottom of the Burges.

When did we move?

Tuesday 1st October 2024.

Why did we leave the old building?

In 2023, we found out that the developer who bought our old building wanted to knock it down and turn it into housing. We began a long process of dismantling and moving things into storage, so we were ready to go when the time came.

Does this affect my weekly sessions?

No, they will carry on as normal at the Old Grammar School.

How do I get there by bus?

You can get off at the same bus stop as before. We’re the same distance from Pool Meadow Bus Station, and right at the bottom of the Burges.

How do I drop someone off by car?

Leave the ring road at Junction 1, following the road markings for Tower St. Turn left onto Silver St, and follow the road around to the right like you're going to Bishop St car park, but keep going until the dead end which is good for drop-offs.

Where is the nearest car park?

Bishop Street Car Park, the same as before.

Which entrance should I use?

If you’re arriving for a session, come to our 'side entrance' - the grey shopfront on Bishop St/Silver St opposite the PureGym entrance. If in doubt, give us a call on the EGO phone, 07476208935.

Why have we chosen the Old Grammar School?

It’s owned by the same people that run the Herbert Art Gallery and Coventry Transport Museum, so they are friendly to arts organisations like us. There is enough room to run a theatre workshop, art workshop and music workshop at the same time. It’s wheelchair accessible, there is office space upstairs, and it’s also very pretty.

Why is it called the Old Grammar School?

King Henry VIII school was based here between 1545 and 1885. Before then, it was a hospital. It was built in the 1300s. It’s very old!

Will shows be performed in there?

Yes. EGO Boost and Super EGO have already performed shows here in November and December 2024. EGO Live & Eclectic and the EGO Annual Awards will also take place here.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

Yes. All sessions take place on the ground floor, where there is an accessible toilet. Additional toilets can be found upstairs, which is accessible by lift.

What else is going on at EGO these days?

There's never been a busier time at EGO. We run 11 ensembles every week, spanning performance, music and production arts. Sign up to our newsletter at the bottom of this page to stay up to date.
